Why Benchmark Your GPU
Benchmarking gives you a score you can compare against other GPUs. It helps you decide if you need an upgrade, verify a used purchase, or check that your drivers are working right.
There are plenty of free tools available. Here are the best ones in 2026.
Browser Based (No Download)
GPU Stress Test (gpustresstest.com) runs 7 different tests right in your browser. It covers 3D rendering, particles, shaders, textures, video decode, WebGPU compute, and a Mandelbulb fractal benchmark. It works on any device and gives you a score, rating, and exportable results. Free and no signup needed.
FurMark
FurMark is the classic GPU stress test. It renders a fur covered donut at maximum settings to push your GPU as hard as possible. Great for stability testing and checking temperatures. Free to download.
3DMark (Free Edition)
3DMark is the industry standard GPU benchmark. The free edition includes basic tests that give you a score you can compare with millions of other results online. The paid version unlocks more tests and features.
Unigine Heaven, Valley, and Superposition
Unigine benchmarks render beautiful 3D scenes to test your GPU. Heaven and Valley are fully free. Superposition has a free basic version. Great for testing at specific resolutions and quality settings.
GPU-Z and HWiNFO
These are monitoring tools rather than benchmarks, but they are essential companions. GPU-Z shows detailed GPU specs and sensor data. HWiNFO monitors everything in your system. Both are free.
Which Tool Should You Pick?
- Quick check from any device: GPU Stress Test (browser)
- Stability and temperature testing: FurMark
- Comparing your GPU to others: 3DMark
- Beautiful visual benchmarks: Unigine
- Monitoring during tests: GPU-Z or HWiNFO
